What is a cabin air filter?
The primary purpose of cabin air filters, located on most vehicles since 2000,is keeping the air inside your vehicle’s cabin clean.
Where is the cabin air filter located in my car?
It’s typically located behind the glove compartment or under the hood or dashboard on most modern vehicles. Its job is to filter all of the air that comes through the car’s hvac system to prevent pollutants, such as dust, pollen, smog and mold spores from entering. The filters can also catch rodent droppings, leaves and other unwanted debris.
If you don’t change it, the filter could get clogged with dirt, dust, smelly mold and allergens, and can even impact the performance of your defroster and your heating and air conditioning blower motor.
When should i replace the cabin air filter in my car?
Most manufacturers recommend removal and replacement of your cabin air filter once a year or after 12,000 to 15,000 miles of driving. However, this is just a rough guideline. If you routinely drive in places with poor air quality, like the desert where it’s dusty or urban areas with smog, then you may need to replace your cabin air filter more frequently.
